Savoury scrolls
These scrolls are so easy to make, and you can use whatever fillings you have in the fridge! I had leftover ham, basil pesto and added cheese to mine. The scrolls are made using a pizza dough.
Ingredients for the pizza dough:
1 cup of warm water
1 tbsp of active dried yeast
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp olive oil
400 g flour
1 tsp salt
Method for pizza dough:
Place the water in a mixing bowl and add the yeast and sugar. Stir gently and leave the mixture until the mixture looks frothy. Add the olive oil and mix together.
Place flour and salt in a large bowl. Add the yeast mixture and mix well to form a dough.
Knead the dough for approximately 10 minutes then place in a bowl. Cover with a tea towel and place in a warm place to rise until it doubles in size - I put mine in the hot water cupboard!
Once it has risen, gently deflate the dough (your child will love punching the dough and watching it sink back down).
Now you can begin making your scroll
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees celcius and line an oven tray (or cake tin) with baking paper.
Roll out dough into a rectangle (about 30cm x 25cm).
Spread your topping (ours was pesto), then add ham, cheese or whatever toppings you would like to use.

Roll the dough lengthways (like a sausage roll) and cut into 8-10 pieces. Place them cut-side up on your tray. Brush the tops with milk or egg and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.

Enjoy with any of your favourite condiments - I love sweet chilli sauce!
