Milk Tart
A quick and easy tart, filled with a creamy yummy custard.
Ingredients
Crust:
125g softened butter
½ cup of sugar
1 egg
2 cups of plain flour
2 teaspoons of baking powder
A pinch of salt
Custard:
4 ½ cups of milk
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
2 ½ tablespoons of plain flour
2 ½ tablespoons of corn flour
A pinch of salt
2 teaspoons of vanilla essence
A tablespoon of butter
Method
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees celsius on fan bake.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar.
- Now whisk in the egg.
- Sift flour and baking powder and add in the salt. Mix well.
- Press dough into a foil pie dish. Dough is enough for two pie dishes.
- Bake for approximately 10 - 15 minutes.
- While the crust is baking, pour the milk into a sauce pan and bring to a boil.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix sugar, eggs, flour, corn flour and salt together.
- Pour in the boiled milk slowly into the mixing bowl and mix quickly.
- Return the saucepan back to the stove with the milk mixture and stir on medium heat for 15 - 20 minutes.
- Pour in the cooked custard into the pie dish and dust with cinnamon.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Best served cold.
