Marianne's DIY Sushi
I just love this recipe - it is so easy to make and absolutely delicious! Enjoy!
Sushi Rice
Ingredients:
2 cups of short grain rice
½ cup of vinegar
1 Tbsp of vegetable oil
¼ cup of sugar
1 tsp of salt
Method:
- Boil rice in water on stove top for about 20mins or until the water is absorbed and the rice is cooked.
- In a separate saucepan combine vinegar, oil, sugar & salt. Cook on a medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Leave to cool and then combine with rice.
Prepare rice and fillings for the sushi.
Use what you have in the fridge, freezer and pantry. We used carrots, corn, spring onion, edamame, avocado & (marinated) jackfruit. Use whatever veggies you like and even a protein like tuna, chicken or tofu.
Lay nori sheet on roller and spread rice evenly across leaving a gap at the end.
Place filling in the middle of the rice
Roll up sushi using bamboo roller
Make sure to wet the free end with water to make sure it sticks together.
Glad wrap sushi and leave in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before cutting.
Enjoy your yummy sushi!
Alternatively, if you do not have nori or a sushi roller make a sushi bowl topping your sushi rice with your fillings.
