Floating and Sinking
Why not try a science experiment? Make a guess - which is called a ‘hypothesis.’ In science, a hypothesis is an idea or explanation that you then test through study and experimentation.
All you need is a bucket filled with water and various items of your choice from inside or outside your house!

I had my very own helper today - Charlie the pup! He was very keen to jump in the water - (he sunk).

Before you begin your experiment, you can use paper and felt pens or coloured pencils to make a guess chart. Simply write down the items you are going to test and then make two columns - one for floating, one for sinking.
Take a guess! If you think an item will sink, place a tick in that column. If you think an item will float, place a tick in that column.

Start your experiment!

Here are my results:

This experiment is a fantastic way to develop early science concepts. Your little ones will love this hands-on sink or float science activity! Play with water and learn all about the density of objects at the same time!
Kirsty has created a fun science experiment!
