🇨🇳Happy Chinese New Year!!!🇨🇳

What an exciting week you have had celebrating the Chinese New Year.

Ni hao! What an exciting week you have had celebrating the Chinese New Year.

You have been discovering the meaning of the celebration during meeting times with Marianne, creating beautiful paint‑by‑number lanterns at the Dream Team table with Paris, and joining in with lively singing and “fire horse” games outside with Genna. You have also made even more red and gold lanterns in the atelier with Sue and painted gorgeous orange, yellow, and gold fire horses with Kerryn.

But one of the biggest highlights was Genna’s incredible Chinese New Year parade.

Genna gathered you all together and asked you to line up, ready for something really special. One by one, she handed you a special prop: you might have received a musical instrument to shake and tap, a beautiful traditional Chinese fan to flutter, or a bright, colourful pom‑pom to wave proudly. At the very front stood your two parade leaders, Paula and Benson, holding the magnificent fire horses, one red and one yellow, standing tall and proud.

Once everyone was ready, Genna announced the beginning of the parade. You all cheered with excitement as the drums began to beat, the pom‑poms shimmered, and the fans danced through the air. Genna had even laid out a colourful carpet to show the parade route, and she hung decorations all around to make it feel extra festive. Then off you went, following the leaders around the playground on your gorgeous parade journey.

It was such a joyful celebration, full of movement, music, and pride. And seeing our Chinese tamariki dressed in their beautiful traditional outfits made the whole week feel even more special.

What an amazing week we’ve had celebrating the Chinese New Year, which lots of our preschool families celebrate!

Love all your teachers at Gulf Harbour Preschool! xxx
